Werner started drumming in 2002 while studying at the University of Potchefstroom. Up to the end of 2006, he served on the praise and worship teams of 2 local student churches, (NG Kerk Bult Gemeente as well as Kruispunt), playing on numerous Christian camps, events (PUK Kruisjool & Klankgrens) and conferences (PUK WUK week) along with artists such as Retief Burger and Leza Liversage.

Since 2006, he was involved as a drummer in numerous Christian projects (Voelvry, Extension) . In 2007, he also contributed to the recording of Duet’s first praise and worship album (Strome van Lof), which serves as a tool to aid in praise and worship for the purpose to use in small groups.

In 2007, he joined the praise and worship team of Duet church, also situated in Potchefstroom, where he’s is currently still involved.

In 2009, he also formed part of the praise and worship team that played during Kruisvuurkamp 2009 together with Ernie Amos and guests Retief Burger and Liezel Goosen.
